Use a backup method of contraception while taking amoxicillin. Amoxicillin may decrease the effectiveness of Loestrin 24, increasing the risk of pregnancy.
Continue taking Loestrin 24 as prescribed, even while on amoxicillin. Do not skip or alter your dosage without consulting your doctor.
Report any unusual bleeding or spotting to your doctor immediately. This could be a sign that your birth control is less effective.
If you experience severe diarrhea while taking amoxicillin, inform your doctor. Severe diarrhea can also reduce the effectiveness of Loestrin 24.
Understand that the interaction between amoxicillin and Loestrin 24 is temporary. Your birth control’s effectiveness should return to normal after you finish the amoxicillin course.
