Monitoring Cervical Mucus Changes

Track your cervical mucus daily, ideally starting a few days before your expected Clomid cycle begins. Pay attention to the following characteristics:

Consistency

Day 1-3: Expect little to no mucus, possibly dry. Mid-cycle (peak fertility): Notice clear, slippery, stretchy mucus. Think egg white consistency. This indicates ovulation is approaching. Post-ovulation: Mucus becomes thicker, cloudier, and less stretchy, eventually returning to dry or scant.

Amount

Before ovulation: The amount increases noticeably as ovulation nears. After ovulation: The amount decreases.

Color

Healthy cervical mucus is clear or slightly cloudy. Yellow, green, or brown mucus often points to infection and should be checked by your doctor.

How to Check

Wash your hands thoroughly. Use clean fingers or toilet paper to gently check your vaginal opening. Observe the mucus characteristics. You might want to use a magnifying glass for better examination. Record your observations in a journal or fertility tracking app.

Important Notes

Changes in cervical mucus are influenced by various factors including medication and stress. Consistent daily monitoring gives you the most accurate picture of your cycle.
