Check your dog’s ears daily. Look for reduced swelling, less redness, and a decrease in discharge. Note the amount and consistency of any remaining discharge – is it thicker, thinner, less smelly?
Signs of Improvement
Improved appetite and increased energy levels signal positive changes. A decrease in head shaking or scratching at the ears is also a good indicator. Observe their overall behavior – do they seem less uncomfortable? If they’re playful and active, that’s a great sign.
When to Contact Your Vet
If you notice no improvement after 3-5 days of treatment, contact your veterinarian immediately. Increased pain, worsening redness, or a new type of discharge requires immediate attention. Similarly, if your dog’s condition deteriorates, don’t hesitate to seek veterinary help.
Continue administering amoxicillin as prescribed, even if you see initial improvement, unless your vet instructs otherwise. Complete the full course of medication to ensure a full recovery.
