Protect your lips! Accutane significantly dries the skin, including your lips. Use a thick, hydrating lip balm with SPF 30 or higher, applying it frequently throughout the day and before bed. Look for balms containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and shea butter for optimal moisture.
Consider a nighttime lip mask for extra hydration. Apply a generous layer before sleep to wake up with noticeably softer lips. Avoid lip products containing fragrances or harsh chemicals, as these can irritate already dry and sensitive lips. Exfoliate gently once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and improve balm absorption. A soft toothbrush works well.
Drink plenty of water. Adequate hydration supports overall skin health, including lip health. While topical treatments are crucial, internal hydration is equally important. If your lips remain severely cracked or painful despite these measures, consult your dermatologist. They can recommend additional treatments or assess for potential complications.
