Potential Side Effects and Precautions

Oxybutynin can cause several side effects. Dry mouth is common; sip water frequently to alleviate this. Constipation may also occur; increase fiber intake and drink plenty of fluids.

Be aware of blurred vision; avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how Oxybutynin affects you.

    Drowsiness: Avoid activities requiring alertness if drowsy. Headache: Over-the-counter pain relievers may help. Dizziness: Rise slowly from a sitting or lying position to minimize dizziness. Nausea: Take your medication with food.

Less common, but serious side effects include:

    Increased heart rate: Consult your doctor if you experience a rapid or irregular heartbeat. Difficulty urinating: Contact your doctor immediately. Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing): Seek immediate medical attention.
